Sex Doesn’t Just Sell . . .

Once again the California Supreme Court has issued a ruling that could have frightening implications across the nation. The court’s recent decision allows the government to force doctors to perform medical treatments that violate their religious beliefs.

In this case, two Christian fertility doctors refused to artificially inseminate a lesbian who wanted to have a baby. Never mind that there are hundreds of other doctors who would have gladly taken the money and done the procedure, and this is hardly withholding treatment in a life threatening situation, but the lesbian in question sued. The doctors in this case even referred the woman to another clinic — but she refused (and they paid for the referral). Obviously, this was not about a medical treatment. This was about forcing one’s morality on someone else and using the courts to do so.

This is just another example in the ongoing battle between sexual liberty and religious liberty that has more often been played out in the abortion debate. Most recently, abortion activists have fought attempts to protect pharmacists who do not want to distribute abortifacient drugs because it violates their conscience. Again, its not like there isn’t a Rite-Aid on every corner, giving people plenty of options. Medical providers are not allowed to have a choice in the matter of conscience.

No, this is about forcing people to act against their religious beliefs. And in America today, religious liberty is the least protected right in existence. In nearly every case thus far, sexual liberty wins out over conscience.

Does no one feel a chill when they read about the government forcing doctors to act against their conscience? Does history not teach us the danger of such oppression?

    This is definitely chilling!

If California residents aren’t shocked by this and other pro-Lesbian/pro-Abortion legislating from their courts, perhaps they should declare their state a refuge for all Lesbians and Baby-Killers. Let those few misguided souls move to California in their quest for Gay/Lesbian Marriage rights & Baby Murder by Doctor rights. Leave the rest of the country as God intended!

Just one step closer to beachfront property in Nevada…

As we have little influence on legal issues on the Left Coast, we must pray diligently for those who do, while making our voices heard in our own states. We must continue to pray for those who have chosen the Gay/Lesbian lifestyle.

This is chilling in more ways than one. It reminds me of how physicians were forced to use innocent human beings for experimentation under the Nazi regime during World War II – those doctors were not permitted the luxury of refusing to act so mercilessly as a matter of professional conscience, either. Now we have doctors who at one time respected the Hippocratic Oath which states they will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion, in direct violation of their medical ethics. Another hallmark of the good physician is embodied in the directive “primum no nocere” which is to say “above all, do no harm”. Where is the freedom we once enjoyed in America? This is an outrage!
    Sincerely,
    Victoria

God did not intend for us to be artificially inseminating women. Lesbian or not.

The FF and the FRC always have a lot to say about abortion but nothing to say about infant mortality. The US has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the western world. You say you’re protectors of innocent life? Why is it that those “Euro-Socialist” countries that you folks like to criticize have lower infant mortality rates than we do? You know why. It’s because low income expectant mothers in those countries can get proper pre-natal care without going into debt. There are consequences when health care is treated just like any other commodity in our market-driven nation. Babies die. Why aren’t you doing something to protect THOSE innocent lives?

I read this blog pretty often and I notice you always come on here and change the subject. Why don’t you address the point in the post? Pre-natal isn’t the point of the post. Not only that you’re WRONG! FF does support such things, but there are many other groups who specialize in that, who’s expertise is that. But someone needs to fight for those who have no voice — namely, the unborn. FF supports all types of things that protect the family, such as a few years ago, it supported raising the threshold income for state taxes, taking thousands of low income people off that state tax rolls. You just like asserting stuf to fit your biased view. You should learn your facts before you spout off.

I change the subject? To the contrary, I’m still on the subject of values issues. You people never feel comfortable when anyone attempts to broaden values issues beyond your very limited scope. So I don’t have my facts straight when I say that the young children and babies whose families don’t have health insurance can’t speak for themselves any more than a fetus can? As I’ve said before, anti-abortion does not always mean pro-life and I will make people aware of that fact. When I confront my Right-Wing Christian niece and husband with other values issues they are at a loss to respond because they believe “values” are only about abortion, homosexuality and getting God back into our classrooms. Amazing.

Again, you are just plain wrong. You’re a liberal blow hard. FF and other organizations do care about families pre and post birth. Where do you get your facts from? Produce one statement or policy paper or quote from any pro-life organization that shows they are against health care for the newborn? So, you have a niece who has certain views. Typical liberal — generalizing and painting all pro-life people with a broad brush. You prove my earlier point that you are just making assertions. You have no facts. And, the last time I heard, yes, adults can speak for themselves, so a newborn who needs help has parents who CAN SPEAK for it! And there are many organizations, govt. and private/non-profit, who specialize in providing helo and/or lining up help for such families who need it, and who also lobby for more. So, yes, there are plenty of people who can speak for such people in those situations. You’re just mad!

BTW, where do you stand on partial birth abortion? I thought you liberals wanted to make abortion “safe, legal and rare”? What about all these liberal lawmakers who “are personally opposed to abortion” yet don’t even support incentives for adoption or who favor partial brith abortion? If they are so personally opposed, why don’t they ever use their bully pulpit? Forget govt. restrictions, why don’t they just try moral persuasion? You’re all a bunch of hypocrites.

Don’t give me this Roe v, Wade nonsense either, that it’s the law of the land. Why do people run for office? To change policy they think is wrong or unjust. So if liberals like Kaine think abortion is wrong, but nothing can be done about it, then why run for office to begin with?

If you have a moral issue providing healthcare do something else – its not like there isn’t a plethora of careers to chose from. If you have a problem dispensing alchol don’t be a bar tender. If you amish and can’t use tech don’t be a bus driver. If your evangelical don’t work in the health profession.

The only thing that chills me is that some blowhard can withhold medical treatment from me when I need it
