Abortion Clinic Coming to Virginia Beach?
Last Friday evening Planned Parenthood of Southeast Virginia held an annual fundraiser, earnestly mocking Christians in Virginia with particular vitriol for Pat Roberston. All this was done in the name of raising money for a new “health” facility to be built in Virginia Beach. Health for everyone except the mothers and the babies that enter, of course.
According to reports, Democrat candidate for Lt. Governor Jody Wagner was in attendance, lending her public support to the most extreme pro-abortion group in the country. Remember, it was current Lt. Governor Bill Bolling who cast the tie breaking Senate vote earlier this year that would have ended Virginia taxpayer subsidies of Planned Parenthood. The budget amendment Bolling supported was later stripped by budget conferees. No doubt that issue will be a part of next year’s race for Lt. Governor.
But Wagner wasn’t alone Friday. The crowd included Glenn Nye, Democrat candidate for Congress running against second district Congresswoman Thelma Drake; third district Democrat Congressman Bobby “Ban Christmas” Scott, and Delegate Bobby Mathieson (D-21, Virginia Beach).
Attendees were urged to join “The Other 700 Club,” a group of 700 people donating $1,000 toward a new facility. The shot at Robertson and his “700 Club” television ministry was a nice touch, don’t you think? Very tolerant.
These are evil people who support the racist babykillers of Planned Parenthood.
go planned parenthood!
go reality based education!
go access to birth control for those who can’t afford it!
go affordable pap smears!
go breast exams for those who don’t have insurance!
go parenting skills!
go abstinence for those who choose it!
go pre-natal care!
go freedom of choice!
go healthy families!
How about, “go away Planned Parenthood! – go away sex education for children! – go away abortion!
Okay, if you insist…go away sex education = more stds, more teen pregnancies. Why do you think that being in the dark is the way to go?
Go away abortion? fine! bring on the EDUCATION and birth control!
education is the key to awareness and knowing how to protect yourself, whether that is abstinence or birth control. We can’t just wish away or pray away abortion…
You DO know that the majority of PP’s services are health related for women, right? That abortions are a very small part of it and that some women (many of them women of color) wouldn’t be able to afford any gynecological health care if it weren’t for Planned Parenthood?
Talk about racists and intolerant.
Oh & if you’re going to lift facts from another blog instead of doing your own research, it’s only common courtesy (and proper blog etiquette) to link to it. How do I know you lifted it? Because I mistakenly indicated in my post about the event that it was on Friday too. And you mysteriously only mentioned the political attendees that I mentioned, even though there were others there….
How many people don’t know that sex can lead to diseases? How many people don’t know that sex can lead to pregnancy? What more education do people need?
What else can be taught?
Mr. Norton you can bury your head in disbelief or ask questions like that all you want but until you get out and talk to folks who might not actually know the answers to what seems like very obvious questions, you should think twice about your questions and, I’m guessing, potential solutions.
My friend is a teacher in Chesterfield and you’d be surprised the alarming questions she gets asked of her students. I can’t even believe it. It’s like…these students think what?!?!?!?
We can shake our heads in disbelief or we can try to do something about it.
The only heads that are buried in the sand are those that don’t get what liberalism and and left wing ideology are doing to this country. Liberals create the problems and then attack others for not running to solve them.
STDs are created by immorality, as are teenage pregnancies. First liberals introduced the “sexual revolution” and then became self righteous about curing all the problems that it caused. Micheal Savage has made the definitive statement about liberalism – it is a mental disorder.
Hey Jay:
We all see how well abstinence education works in Alaska. Thank God Planned Parenthood exists for those who want real education and options!
I know that the abortion option always works. Death is final.
How well does “education” work? What is the success rate? You are pointing to one high profile case in Alaska, do you really know how well the education works?
Gee, should this be an introduction to the article “Angry Left Hate Speech” ?
I don’t agree with everything here, but it is undeniable that abortion kills children. Abortion often harms the health of the woman, and impairs her future ability to have children. If the great majority of PP’s services are merely health maintenance related, then why do they do abortions? One poster mentioned that because of Planned Parenthood’s services, women of color have better access to health care. Really? One third of the black children in this country have been ‘terminated’ before birth, often at a Planned Parenthood center. Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, however did have in mind the objective of eliminating poverty by eliminating poor people. She conveniently saw poverty as proof of a defective gene pool — why educate and empower the poor when they can simply be eliminated? The prevalence of abortion is decimating black people in this country. Is that a service? Should my tax dollars be used to support genocide?
Hello, Give something for help those hungry people from Africa or India,
