Those were Barack Obama’s words to Planned Parenthood leaders. Not the eloquent, oblique style he normally utters. It’s blunt, which is appropriate for the horror thatis FOCA. Why is his statement so important? FOCA is the so-called “Freedom of Choice Act” sponsored by some of the extreme left wing’s most radical members of Congress. Orwellian as it sounds, it’s not about freedom or choice (see our commentary here). In fact, it would nullify every state regulation of abortion the courts have upheld, including parental notification and consent laws, and partial birth abortion laws (see a print ad/open letter to Senator Obama from Americans United for Life, here).
Remember the old hit from the band Chicago “25 To 6 To 4″? It was very catchy, but never made much sense to me.
Now, Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama, appropriately enough from Chicago, has a tax plan. He wants to increase taxes on those he calls “the rich” and use that money to redistribute in the form of direct government checks to those who don’t pay taxes. At first he defined the “rich” as those who make $250,000 or more per year. What he doesn’t realize, or doesn’t care about, is that many of those who take in that amount are small business owners whose gross receipts are $250,000 — which is counted as income before their business expenses. These people create the bulk of new jobs in our country and his tax plan would devastate them, killing countless jobs. (See our commentary on how taxes affect businesses, job creation and inflation.)
But just like some of those crazy rock or pop songs whose lyrics seem to change each time you hear it, so does Senator Obama’s. Recently, he said he would tax people at $200,000. Then, Senator Gaffe-A-Lot, Joe Biden (click here and also here) the other day said it was the income level was $140,000. A top surrogate, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, said in an interview this weekend, that it’s $140,000.
Well, what is it? Perhaps $42,000? That’s the salary at which Senator Obama voted to raise taxes last year.
According to a breaking news post this morning at the blog Too Conservative (read details here), Connolly showed up last night at the funeral of a policeman who died in the line of duty, not to pay his respects, but to politic and arm twist grieving cops in attendance to support him. It’s worse. Apparently, Connolly asked for the service to be held up just so he could attend. The thread includes eyewitness accounts from readers who claim “Boss Connolly” had to be escorted away and was a complete embarrassment.
But guess what? As of earlier today, the local Mainstream Media has done nothing with what should be a major news story. We’ll see if anything breaks tomorrow.
Two big scoops this weekend for Too Conservative. Congrats, guys.
Scanning the Virginia blogosphere this afternoon, we find this very interesting piece of citizen journalism from fellow blog Too Conservative. It appears the Democrat mayor of Leesburg, Kristen Umstattd, attended a recent Sarah Palin rally in Northern Virginia.
If you haven’t heard, this broke earlier today on NewsBusters and posted on Drudge: A tape of Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama telling a San Francisco Chronicle reporter in January that he wouldn’t mind seeing the coal industry go out of business! A big thank you for our friend Noreen for the alert on this. This is what he said:
Let me sort of describe my overall policy.
What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.
I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.
That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.
The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.
It’s just that it will bankrupt them.

Why does Senator Obama tend to say things in San Francisco that he doesn’t want the rest of the world to hear? Remember, he made his comments about people in small towns being “bitter” and “clinging to their guns and religion” to a bunch of San Francisco elites (click here to hear the comments and read the transcript).
Another question: Why didn’t the Chronicle reorter include the coal industry comments in the article that was published? This interview was in January. Why are we hearing about only now? This comes on top of the controversy of Senator Obama attending a dinner party for a anti-Israeli hack of Yassir Arafat (a party attended by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers who Obama denies being friends with). The L.A. Times has a tape of this event but won’t release it. Why? Perhaps because, if allegations are true, Obama toasts this PLO terrorist and/or sits by while others do.
As much as this L.A. Times situation may or may not be true or is or is not an issue, what we do know for a fact is an elitist pattern here: Senator Obama tells small town and rural folk what he thinks of their culture and now he wants to shut down their industry — and he made both proclamations in San Francisco because he thought no one would ever find out.
