Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

Today, Good Friday, is the sorrow of Christ’s Passion and Death, Death upon a cross. But His ignominious death, required for the forgiveness of sin, gives way to the Resurrection and life everlasting. His sacrifice for His children is too great to ever reciprocate, except to live as a reflection of his Word and Life. Today, then, though one of sorrow, solemnity and reflection of the necessity of the Great Sacrifice, quickly gives way to a day for hope, hope ground in faith, faith in life everlasting through the redemption gained through sacrificial death of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

From The Family Foundation of Virginia, please accept our best wishes for a Blessed Easter Season.

Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

Jesus Christ is ris’n today!
Sinners wipe your tears away!
Jesus’ death upon the cross
Saveth us from endless loss.

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

See the holy women come,
Bearing spices to the tomb;
Hear the white-clad angel’s voice
Bid the universe rejoice.

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Go tell all His brethren dear
“He is risen, nor is here!
Seek Him not among the dead;
He is risen as He said!”

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Glory, Jesus be to Thee!
Thine own might hath set Thee free!
Come! for primal joy restored,
Let us bless our Paschal Lord!

Virginia News Stand: April 10, 2009

Most people have taken today off, but we’re still here putting out the best of Virginia’s Web — and beyond — so you don’t go through political junkie withdrawal. So, what’s new? Seems — surprise! — liberal out-of-state groups are raising mega amounts of money and taking aim at Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell. Already. Meanwhile, the non-partisan National Journal senses that independents may be trending back to the GOP. On the culture front, CNN reports illegitimate births are at an all-time high. Looking for irony? A Democrat busts McDonnell’s brackets and wins a dinner with the former A.G. (see previous comment).

It’s Getting So Close, You Can Taste The Tea

Time is getting near for the various Tax Day Tea Parties across Virginia (and the nation). Click here to get all the times and locations and the link to the Virginia Tea Party Web site (we’ve updated the thread to include the most recent information we have). Meanwhile, to stoke your patriotic fires, here are two promotional videos, one each for the Richmond and Lynchburg events. The voice on the first one is WRVA-AM/1140 talk show host (and Glenn Beck substitute) Doc Thompson. He’ll attend the Richmond Tea Party. In addition, a third is a news report about the Richmond event from WTVR-CBS/6.
