A Very Barry Christmas: Mao, Transvestite Featured On White House Christmas Tree

“Barry from D.C.” truly has brought change to the White House. First, it was advisers and “czars” who professed admiration for communist murderers, such as Mao, and a general affinity for Marxism. Now, despite the administration’s admonitions of conservative hyperbole and the left-wing mainstream media’s apologies for conservative over reaction to such appointments, we have the ”anointed one” himself glorifying such scoundrels on the White House Christmas tree. Not only that, but ornaments glorifying himself.

BigGovernment.com broke the news yesterday, that the White House Christmas Tree has ornaments of Chinese communist dictator Mao, “legendary transvestite Hedda Lettuce” (that she autographed!), and even a bulb with Barry himself superimposed on Mount Rushmore. The White House had Simon Doonan, the noted designer of Barney’s of New York, do up the decorations, but the First Lady’s office says “community groups” were chosen to decorate the tree (see Special Report’s Political Grapevine on FoxNews.com). Community groups? As in community organizers? No doubt! What next? ACORN staffing the Situation Room?

It all makes for a very Barry Christmas. Obama style. As the debasing of our country’s traditions and values continues.

The Turkeys Amongst Us

We’ve beaten everyone to the punch with some political leftovers. If you didn’t hear already, Governor Tim Kaine is talking the same way on the way out as he did on the way in — tax increase! That a way to leave a legacy, Excellency! Playing politics to the very end. Oh, well. It is, thankfully, the end.

In National News, the Catholic Bishop of Rhode Island, Thomas Tobin, has reluctantly become the foil to the most famous member of his flock: pro-abortion-on-demand Democrat Congressman Patrick Kennedy, son of the late senator. The congressman has made public private letters written to him by the Bishop explaining why abortion is evil and that his support for it endangers his soul. Leave it to a Kennedy to politicize private religious counseling. Speaking of Catholic Bishops, Real Catholic Blog reports on Richard Viguerie’s concern that the U.S. Bishops, despite directly cutting off ACORN, indirectly may still be funding it. Also, Mitt Romney’s presidential ambitions are sinking as “health care reform” rises in the public consciousness, the AFA calls a temporary cease fire with the Gap, and Republicans in Congress want an investigation into leaked e-mails from the organization the U.N. takes its “climate change” info from. You see, the e-mails admit “the science” is junk.

In Commentary, Chuck Norris chimes in on loss of freedoms, Matt Friedeman writes about a man in a coma for 23 years, who was able to hear but not communicate (so much for the euthanasia argument), and Friedemen discusses one brave clergyman not afraid to take on fellow evangelicals for modern day indulgences (”Prosperity Gospel”). But, today, as the News Stand wishes everyone a fantastic four day break from the serious, it’s all about Michelle Malkin’s “Turkeys of the Year” — a great figurative appetizer to the real deal meal Thursday. Enjoy.

An All-Star Cast

The last shall be first, right? So, today, I bring up our Commentary section first, because we have an all-star cast, with terrific insight on major issues and events in the news right now that may very well affect everything about the future of the country. The terrific Michelle Malkin looks into the ACORN abomination, where employees at offices all around the country have advocated the breaking several major laws while recorded on tape. The always on target Brent Bozell looks at the two-million person march last weekend, the largest tea party in world history. The insightful and patriotic Bobby Eberle commemorates 9/11,  while the great, and I do mean great, Walter E. Williams, says it all in one word: education. Each one is worth the read as well as RedState.com’s analysis on how a pro-life Democrat will kill socialized medicine if it does not explicitly prohibit abortion coverage.

In the gubernatorial campaign, it looks like — again, of people — the Washington Post is covering issues again. Finally. A makeup call? All else is the horse race: money and polls.

New Term For Virginia Campaign Lexicon: “Buena Vista-Style Politics.” Pictures Of Labor Day MisDeeds!

The term “Chicago thug politics” has been used to describe some events in national campaigns over the last two years or so — a conviction in the Midwest of a liberal activist who slashed tires on a conservative get-out-the-vote van on election day and all of the forged and made-up voter registration signatures from ACORN last year, come to mind. But after an eyewitness account and the pictures below were sent to me, we may have a new term for campaign misDeeds.

Although less physically intimidating than tire slashing and not quite the level as felony vote fraud, it seems liberal activists are practicing a more deft style intimidation in this year’s statewide elections. It may not have started at the traditional Labor Day Parade in Buena Vista, but it was well documented there. Thus, the term, “Buena Vista-Style Politics.” However, as the campaign now heats up, we’re sure this kind of activity is only the tip of the Angry Left Spear.

Here is the eyewitness account:

Basically, McDonnell and Bolling’s crews came in early on Saturday/Sunday to set up signs in preparation for the parade. Deeds’ crew, plus purple shirted SEIU folks, acted overnight Sunday to cover those signs with Deeds’ signs, sometimes stapling signs over the top of the big 4×8 foot signs. The locals said they’d never seen anything like it in all the years that they’ve been having this event. Chicago thug style politics have arrived in Va.

. . . . see how Deeds signs covered all of McD’s signs. This was EVERYWHERE. It was truly a disgraceful display, with the Dirty Deeds crew in all their full regalia. I have started to refer to the CreighP Deeds’ sign with the blue stripe with the white stripe down the middle as ‘the road to nowhere’ sign. Sigh.

BuenaVista2009_007

Before: This baseball backstop is dominated by signs for the GOP statewide candidates and Delegate Ben Cline. Notice that Democrat gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds only has signs on the second row and a few small signs (appropriately) on the left side.

BuenaVista2009_009

After: Everything but the top row Bob McDonnell signs and one Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli sign are covered with the small Deeds signs. Union muscle at work for Deeds.

Also FWIW one of the Bolling volunteers told my husband that Sunday night while they were putting up signs one SEIU type held a crowbar and shouted, ‘Who wants to get their ass kicked by a liberal?’ Lovely.

BuenaVista2009_010

Here, two large Bill Bolling signs, obviously there first, were covered up by lefty union workers for Deeds and delegate candidate Jeff Price.

We also have pictures of another instance of Deeds’ crew standing guard while others plant his signs in front of prepositioned McDonnell signs. We hope to get them up later.

Furthermore, thanks to Bearing Drift, we have this picture of a large McDonnell sign defaced with Deeds stickers. But what makes this distasteful is that the Deeds crew went on to a McDonnell supporter’s private property in the Hampton Roads area to do their mischief — and was caught! According to Bearing Drift, one of the red-handed begged that the police not be called, while another of the perps was recognized as a paid Deeds Hampton Roads staffer.

Hampton Roads McD sign deface

Doing dirty deeds but begging for mercy. What else do you expect from liberals?

So, as the boys from South Park would say, “We’ve learned something today.” We’ve learned that despite what we’re taught, the early bird ethic and initiative have no place in liberalism. Be lazy, but use your muscle, and overcome others’ hard work. Then, expect a double standard, because it’s due you (for no discernible reason) and not be held to account for you illegal actions. I can’t think of anything better that exemplifies what we see in liberal policies than in Buena Vista-Style Politics.

Liberal Response To Tea Parties

It was inevitable, I suppose. Those of us who believe in limited, constitutional government as envisioned by the Founders and who see the free market as most conducive to individual and family financial success couldn’t possibly be allowed to hold rallies in response to the new socialism coming from Washington without being labeled. After all, the postmodern liberal left lives for labels. So, what are all of us who simply want taxes to be reasonable? (Please, don’t call us anti-tax . . . we really do believe in limited taxation for a limited government, just not oppressive taxation that has no end in sight.)

Racist.

Yup, that’s right. Get a decent education, get a good job, wait until you’re married to have children, work endless hours, buy a house you can actually afford, make your mortgage payments on time, get frustrated over our government’s exponential growth and bailouts for those who made poor economic decisions and failed businesses, decide to stand with your fellow Americans in protest and you, my friend, are a racist.

At least that’s what our taxpayer supported friends at ACORN are telling the American people (using some of those tax dollars you greedy fringe wackos want to keep to feed your own children).

As rumors spread that ACORN plans to crash Tea Parties planned tomorrow for over 250 locations nationwide, they are also putting the PR machine to work to try to stop the bleeding from Obama’s increasing unpopular money grab plan. And what better plan than go to your friends in the MSM and get the labels out there.

So are you intimidated? Planning to cower at home tomorrow so you won’t be seen on CNN under the banner “Racist Rally”?

Somehow I doubt it. Then again, conservatives have seldom been intimidated by the label thing.

Just don’t call me anti-tax!

Breaking News: McDonnell Tells Fairfax Registrar To Count The Military’s Votes!

The U.S. Military doesn’t fight and die overseas to protect our freedoms so that unscrupulous people in power back home can deny them their own constitutional rights.

When the news first broke late last week that the grossly partisan Fairfax County registrar, Rokey Suleman (contact here), was not going to count absentee ballots by military personnel, we were livid. This same man registered Fairfax County Jail inmates to vote earlier this month. (Why not? Captive audience, right?) But he wanted to deny the votes of hundreds of Virginians who are abroad fighting for our (including his) security and freedom. The gall of this man!

From the D.C. Examiner:

Inmates at the Fairfax County jail were encouraged to register and vote last week by (Democrat) elections officials making what the county’s (Democrat) sheriff called the first visit of its kind in his 30 years with the county.

We were ready to blog about this absolute gross injustice — first brought to the public’s attention by Delegates Bill Janis (R-56, Glen Allen) and Scott Lingamfelter (R-31, Woodbridge), both military veterans (Delegate Lingamfelter was a tank colonel in the Gulf War) — when we just received a news release from the office of Attorney General Bob McDonnell announcing that he has written and issued an opinion that tells Mr. Suleman to shape up and count the votes! (Norfolk Virginian-Pilot article, here.) Delegate Janis last week officially requested the opinion from Attorney General McDonnell — himself a vet and whose daughter has been deployed to Iraq.

At issue was a minor technicality (Richmond Times-Dispatch article, here) that no Virginia registrar had ever considered an impediment to the counting of the votes of overseas military personnel, especially since a federal law allows military personnel a waiver for the particular circumstance in question. Yet, Mr. Suleman, the jailbird cherry picker, proposed to be the first to ignore the federal law. (Human Events article here).

Another irony: Fairfax County is the home to George Washington. Fine way of continuing the tradition, Mr. Suleman, of respecting the U.S. Military, which your county’s most famous citizen did so much to form.

Meanwhile, where was Governor Tim Kaine on this issue? Not a peep. Isn’t he Barack Obama’s national co-chairman? Coincidence in his silence? We can tell you that besides travelling the country to campaign for liberal Democrats while the commonwealth’s finances are falling apart, Governor Kaine was busy restoring felons’ voting rights at such a dizzying rate that one wonders if he has diligently reviewed their applications. At this point last year he had restored a record 729 felons voting rights outdone only by this year’s blistering pace of 758, per Delegate Janis on WRVA radio Friday afternoon.

The right to vote is a cherished value in our country. Actions by Mr. Suleman and the governor, not to mention renegade groups such as ACORN (see the CNN column of Tara Wall, deputy editorial page editor of The Washington Times), devalue the votes of all law abiding citizens and the brave men and women in uniform who constantly defend us and our freedoms.

Posted below is the news release issued by the office of Attorney General Bob McDonnell. The link to the opinion itself is at the conclusion of the statement.

McDonnell Opinion: Count Absentee Military Ballots

Opinion Finds Federal Law Preempts State Law; Federal Ballots without Witness Address Are Lawful, Must be Counted

Fairfax — Attorney General Bob McDonnell released a formal opinion today concluding that federal absentee ballots from overseas military voters lacking the printed name and address of a witness must be counted. The opinion affirms that federal law preempts state law, thus clarifying the state and federal statutes regarding the issue. The confusion centered over whether a state law requiring a witness’s printed name and address controls federal absentee ballots or the federal law governs this issue. The opinion was requested by Delegate Bill Janis (R-Henrico) and is attached to this release.

In the formal opinion the Attorney General finds, “It is . . . my opinion that the applicable provision of Virginia law, § 24.2-702.1(B), interpreted to require an overseas military voter submitting only a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot to include the printed name and address of the person who signs the witness statement is preempted by the provisions of the (federal) Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act. Finally, it is my opinion that general registrars may not reject a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot submitted by overseas military voters for the November 4, 2008 federal election that does not include a printed name and address for the person who signs the witness statement. …”

Approximately 100 Federal Write-In Absentee Ballots have been set aside in Fairfax County pending a legal conclusion regarding the discrepancy between state and federal law. Additional Federal Write-In Absentee Ballots may also have been received in other jurisdictions. The Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot is most commonly used by members of the military who are stationed overseas and have not received a state absentee ballot. It is a means by which service members can be guaranteed a vote in federal elections.

A copy of this formal opinion was provided to the State Board of Elections this afternoon.

Unanswered Questions Because They Are Unasked Questions

Tomorrow night is the third and final presidential debate. We’ve posted questions prior to some of the other debates that we’d like to get answers to, but of course, unless they are asked, we’ll never know the answers. Here are some more questions we’d love to hear asked tomorrow night:

1. Senator Obama, given the voter fraud violations by the leftist organization ACORN in 2004, and the numerous investigations of it this year in battleground states (see Washington Post, here), do you still believe, as you stated earlier this year, that it will play a large role in your administration?

2. Considering how grievous the violations were and new accusations are, are you sstill proud of serving as its lawyer?

3. You like to note your past as a community organizer. Is registering the fictitious, the dead and people not qualified to vote what community organizers do?

4. Was registering the fictitious, the dead and people not qualified to vote the goal of the Civil Rights movement?

5. Why have you not repudiated the vile comments of Congressman Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) and John Lewis (D-Ga.), who said your opponents wanted to kill blacks and Jews? (See Wall Street Journal.)

6. Do you agree with Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) that Jesus was a community organizer and his implication that Governor Sarah Palin is a murderer? (Read The Citizen’s Father David Epps, here.)

It’s doubtful these questions will get asked given the left-wing slant and timidity of the Mainstream Media. But it never hurts to put them out there. You never know who’s reading . . . at least it may get some people thinking.

Here’s the video of the new New Testament interpretation by Rep. Cohen:
