It’s May Which Means Soon We’ll Have Some Surprise Announcements

What does late spring in an odd year mean? Of course! The Family Foundation General Assembly Report Card soon will be released, grading all 140 members of the General Assembly over the last two years on matters of family values and limited government (click on the link for ordering information). It also means our Annual General Assembly Report soon will be available online. It’s a summary of events and an overview of the recent session, a look at what was accomplished and what was not, as well as a behind the scenes look at how some legislation was made (not pretty!). We’ll post the details and the link as soon as it becomes available.

We also have a pretty big announcement, hopefully, sometime this week. Keep checking back for it. We think you’ll like this surprise — and it’s not the Equality Virginia news conference tomorrow, either, although we’ll be there to cover it just in case there is anything if import to come out of it. So, please continue to log on to our social media sites to keep up to date on several news items from The Family Foundation.

More Voter Guide Notes Re: VA-5, VA-9

Although Family Foundation Action released a voter guide only for the 11th Congressional District campaign, we thought we’d bring your attention to some information about the candidates running in the 5th and 9th Congressional districts. Voters in those districts can get information about the Democrat incumbents, Tom Perriello and Rick Boucher, by referencing their scores on the FRC Action Scorecard, which we wrote about recently (click here). Then, you can compare where they stand on the issues with their respective Republican challengers, Virginia Senator Robert Hurt and House of Delegates Majority Leader Morgan Griffith on TFF Action’s General Assembly Report Card (click here).

In sum, here’s how it adds up:

FRC Action rates 5th District Congressmen Perriello at 12 percent for the last two years in the House of Representatives while TFF Action scored Senator Hurt at 91 percent for the last two sessions of the General Assembly.

FRC Action rates 9th District Congressman Rick Boucher at 25 percent, while TFF Action rates Delegate Griffith at 100 percent.

We report. You decide. Messrs. Perriello and Connolly received low marks on economic issues, as well, from The Club For Growth: 11 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

For direct, side-by-side comparisons of the candidates’ positions on the issues, the Faith & Freedom Coalition is issuing voter guides in the 5th and 9th districts. They will be made available online next week, although copies are available now. For more information, click here.

So Much For That “Moderate” Image

Has anyone noticed that as soon as he captured the Democrat nomination for governor, Creigh Deeds abandoned his “Deeds Not Words” campaign logo and adopted a knock-off of the Obama For President logo? As the president is in the midst of orchestrating complete takeovers of the automobile, insurance, finance, energy and health care industries, among other radical moves, isn’t adopting an image evocative of the Obama logo a strange way for Deeds to attempt to impart to the electorate his self-proclaimed “moderate” image? (See his General Assembly Report Card rating here.)

Two pictures worth thousands of words? Deeds’ new logo gives meaning to the conservative mantra about liberalism: Symbolism over substance.
