Today, our great American friend WizeMaxie brings this to our attention, via Theo Spark — the orator of our time, the chosen one, the post partisan healer, the world’s rock star and the Nobel Peace Prize (but Olympic strikeout) winner at his very best (better, even, than when he claimed to have “visited 57 states with one more to go,” see YouTube), lying faster than Usain Bolt runs. Which Is It?

As election day nears, the media starts to pay closer attention to the House of Delegates campaigns. Accordingly, we have articles on four of them today. Sounds like Ward Armstrong (D-10, Martinsville), the House’s top Democrat, is a bit rankled.

In a case study as to how people see the same object differently, the Washington Post claims Senator Ken Cuccinelli (R-37, Fairfax) is bringing much more attention to the office (attorney general) that gets the least coverage every four years. On the other hand, The Daily Press offers the more traditional afterthought coverage. Which is it? The Post article is amazingly fair and perceptive. It does the senator right.

The Virginian-Pilot offers up a poll which shows Virginians decidedly againsta tax increase for transportation. Sorry, Creigh. Expect the aforementioned House (Democrat) candidates to sprint like Usain Bolt away from that proposition.

Speaking of the Post and The Daily Press, each endorsed a candidate this weekend. The Post predictably stuck with the guy it brung to the dance, Creigh Deeds, despite his attempts to avoid using the T word. Rumors are that he’s buying up stickers to slap on yard signs in Northern Virginia that say, “Endorsed by Washington Post,” just as he did in May shortly after it sponsored endorsed him in the Democrat primary. It was what gave him the edge then. The Daily Press, on the other hand, was not so predictable. It endorsed Tim Kaine four years ago, but now endorses Republican Bob McDonnell. It had no dog in the hunt it seems, and went with its best judgment.

Finally, the Post runs an opinion piece by a local teacher, Patrick Welsh, who offers common sense not often seen in those pages or in the D.C area: It’s the parents, stupid, not the race.

Thanks to our friends at Bearing Drift who posted this earlier today, we now have the Mark Warner/Creigh Deeds television ad that the Deeds campaign pulled quicker than a Usain Bolt sprint. You see, it’s all about Mark Warner saying Creigh Deeds will continue the policies he (Warner) started as governor and that Deeds believes in low taxes.

Experts at M.I.T. can’t calculate how many things are wrong with this ad. First, Warner raised taxes by the largest amount in Virginia history. Second, if you go by Deeds’ previous ads, he’s for lower taxes, which makes Warner’s proclamation, shall we say, inconsistent, with his own policies as governor. But if you go by Deeds’ media interviews and debate statements, he’s for higher taxes. (See this post debate interview!)

Third, in case no one heard, Democrat Senator Edd Houck, one of the highest ranking budget writers in the General Assembly, wrote last week that no tax increase is necessary! (See here.)

Fourth, where’s Tim Kaine? Off on another trip? (See video here.) Why won’t Deeds use him in his ads?

No matter the answers to these questions, we highly recommend you watch this now. The Deeds campaign already pulled it off television. It only may be seconds before it’s pulled from YouTube.

A still more confusing twist on Creigh Deeds’ tax policy. At least this time, even he knows it’s not too clear (see video), so he’s pulled this ad from television.

It doesn’t seem possible, but the the Angry Left gets more hysterical and despicable each day. Not even Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt is this prolific at topping themselves. We can’t keep up. (See last Friday’s post about the vile from so-called comedienne Sandra Bernhard.) So, today, we start trying to keep pace by beginning an Angry Left Hate Speech Quote Of The Day, not to be confused with our ever popular Capitol Square Diary QOD. Not that we’re even going to make this an official category, but with the Mount Everest high amount of material available by the hour, we hold out that option.

So, without further ado, our inaugural ALHSQOD quote comes from disgraced impeached and convicted (for perjury and corruption) former federal judge, now-U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.). (See Fox News article here). Yesterday, in Florida, at a panel discussion hosted by the National Jewish Democrat Council, he said:

If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention. Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through.

As reported by the blog hotair.com, the room erupted in laughter and applause. Classy. However, according to the Fox News report, a fellow member of the Congressional Black Caucus, U.S. Representative Arthur Davis (D-Ala.), rebuked Hastings in a written statement:

I didn’t like his comments when I heard them and they don’t sound any better reading them in print. …

(I)t is a great mistake for Democrats to ridicule (Palin’s) cultural roots. I don’t know how many Americans strip moose, but a lot of the ones I know tote guns and the Democratic Party had better win enough of those gun toters if we are to be successful.

Finally, some commonsense. They can start by reigning in the hate speech by an increasing number of party officials and left wing fringe groups which claim to do their bidding.
